Local Artist: Shannon O'Neill

Without sounding incredibly selfish, I find Christmas shopping for others extremely hard because I always end up buying something for myself! Take this morning for example, I headed to the Bowerbird bazaar to buy something for secret santa instead I walked out with a belly full of yummy food and an original print by South Australian artist Shannon O'Neill. All for myself. Whoops.
I have an obsession with anything Dia de los Muertos, especially sugar skulls, so the second my eyes locked onto the Day of the Dead Girls illustrations by Shannon O'Neill I knew I would be emptying my wallet. Her illustrations and mixed media works are definitely worth checking out for creative pressie ideas or to hang in your own pretty space (below are a few samples from her website).
Despite my shortcomings as a KK, I loved wandering around the quirky design market and appreciating all the different artists, from soap makers to jewellery designers. I can see why this twice-yearly market has become so successful in Adelaide. You gotta love local talent.

Vinyl Obsession

Hello lovelies of the Internet.
Considering my absence from the blogosphere I'd be surprised if anyone was reading this but if you have happened to stumble upon this post "hey what's up? how are you? I like you". The past few months I haven't had much inspiration to write or blog. I think it's because my interests have changed, fashion doesn't really do it for me anymore. I'm not saying you won't see fashion related or outfits posts from me ever again but from now on Bowie Bowie is going to be about EVERYTHING that makes me feel inspired or warm and fuzzy, not just fashun. And hopefully this will inspire you and make you guys feel warm and fuzzy too.
So what does this have to do with the photos above? Well lately all my pocket money has been going towards second-hand records. I freaking love them. I had a collection growing before I even had the means to play them but thankfully SurfStitch caught onto the fact that vinyl sales have increased by 100% and starting stocking not only vinyl but Crosley turntables. I'm obsessed with my orange portable player, admittedly it's not some state of the art music playing machine but it plays my Johnny Cash records with a rawness and authenticity that you just don't get from an iphone.
If your a music lover or have any nostalgic muso loved ones, then I'd highly recommend some Crosley christmas love :)

The Fifth Label

Being asked to describe my style is a pain in the ass. A pain in the ass that is going to keep recurring so long as I'm blogging about clothes (and stuff). When describing my 'style' the words laid back/zero fucks don't really scream FASHUN maybe the term 'off duty' would work if it wasn't associated with way I can pull that off. Thankfully the brilliant peeps at Australia Fashion Labels have got me covered with their newest addition to their growing empire of awesomeness. The Fifth Label is all about fusing the attitude of street wear with the fine cuts and quality of high fashion - a way more fashun way of describing laid back/zero fucks. I've already popped into the aesthetically pleasing BNKR store in A-town (Adelaide) to stock up on some tees and ridiculously comfy pants. How I made it out of that store without selling my soul/body/organs to buy everything in sight is a mystery...

Agent Provocateur Adelaide Launch

Last Thursday night Adelaide welcomed their very first Agent Provocateur store to Rundle Mall in the revamped lower ground of the David Jones building. Champagne and canap├ęs where served while guest were able to view some dangerously sexy lingerie. Black lace, dreamy bridal lingerie and gorgeous bras the colour of the rainbow were on display, tempting us all to disappear into the plush dressing rooms for a fitting. With the crazy success of Fifty Shades of Grey, it wasn't surprising to see the popularity of Agent Provocateur 'accessories' range such as rhinestone whips, sequinned nipple tassels and gold-plated collars (not for your pooch). Personally I'm delighted Agent Provocateur has chosen to share the love/lust with Adelaide and I've already begun saving for something special. And some nipple tassels.
